  Introduction of the speaker:

  John MacLeod is an Associate Professor and former Director of the School of Landscape Architecture at the University of Montreal, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects and served as its president in 1992-93. He is a native of the Canadian prairies and graduate of the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (1970) and a Master of Landscape Architecture (1978).
  
  

  He has lived and worked in Québec province since 1977, first in private practice in landscape architecture and urban design, and since 1985 as a professor at the University of Montreal. He has taught sustainable landscape community design, garden design, landscape construction and professional practice. His research interests are focussed on parks and gardens dedicated to world peace and to the spiritual dimension of landscape architecture. John MacLeod and his colleague Professor Jian-Yun Nie are the first visiting scholars taking part in a new professor exchange agreement between Peking University and the University of Montreal.
